As an artist with fertile imagination and a great understanding of the Indian culture and aspirations and struggles of common Indians, he has been at the forefront of telling stories that touch a chord with every Indian. He has told many stories in the form of Documentaries, TV Serials and now, a Movie.
He has given us stories that bring out the life of villages, as he did in Tulsi More Angna, on communal harmony and rich diversity of Indian society in Ehsaas and many more. His serial Ehsaas was instrumental in bringing to the fore the NAFED scam.
Some Notable Milestones
He also reported and worked in the research team for the BBC award winning documentary series for Channel 4, UK – Kumbh Mela – The Greatest Show On Earth. As a member of the core group, was also involved in the production and planning of the series during December 2000-January 2001. The programme was uplinked on a daily basis from the base camp in Allahabad for a fortnight.
During the 2007 Legislative Assembly elections in UP and Uttarakahand, he anchored a programme called Chaupaal for ETV. It was a 20-episode show, which was shot in remote villages of Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Each episode saw the sitting MLA/Minister and the opposition candidate interface with their voters. It was a multi-camera shoot and the episodes were edited online.
He also served as Associate Director for a 7-episode series for Doordarshan, “Kargil Se Kargil Tak”. The focus of the limited series was Pakistan sponsored insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also scripted, reported and made political cartoons for a 120-episode daily news based programme Khabarein Khabardar for Doordarshan. It was a news-based programme, taking a satirical view of the day-to-day political happenings.
